The words we say and don't...

It seems to be in friendships that people struggle with what they say as much as what they don't say.  Sometimes friends hold in the "offensive" truth of the matter. They listen and blister. Maybe they don't say any more because what they have been saying just falls on deaf ears. Maybe the ones doing the talking don't know where else to go with their thoughts and that is what it is really... just spoken thoughts.

Maybe some wisdom in these written words:

  • Be careful of your thoughts; they may become words at any moment. --Ira Gassen
  • Speak when you are angry and you will make the best speech you will ever regret. --Ambrose Bierce
  •  Handle them carefully, for words have more power than atom bombs. --Pearl Strachan
  • If it takes a lot of words to say what you have in mind - give it more thought. --Dennis Roth
  • Don't speak unless you can improve on the silence. --Spanish Proverb

My favorite one today:

Never miss a good chance to shut up. –Will Rogers
