Blind Sighted

There are many things that we all take for granted everyday.  It can be the people in our lives, it can be that we have a job, that we have shelter and food...  So many many things.

Well, I've really been taking my vision for granted.  Since November, I've been told by two different doctors that they are completely amazed that I have not lost my vision.  I could be blind right now. I have very "fluffy" optic nerves caused by the fluid that is building up around my brain. There isn't a real reason why this fluid is building up around my brain, it's just how I was apparently created.  Also amazing to the doctors is that I currently have no other symptoms other than my nerves resemble that of Cauliflower. I been diagnosed since 2009 with what is called Idiopathic Intercranial Hypertension (IIH) or Pseudotumor cerebri.

My regular eye doctor examined me today.  She can see that my eyes are doing some really bizarre things.  My actual sight vision GREATLY increased for someone in her early 30s.  It's extremely rare to have such a corrective change in vision for someone my age.  She thinks it has to do with the Papilledema on my optic nerve - also associated with my IIH.

Needless to say, I've been more than blind sighted to my own health.  I've been a very busy momma and wife. I haven't slowed down enough to take care of myself.  Even if I could have found time (and I'm sure I could have), would I have wanted to slow down and really think about this?  The possibility of being blind for the rest of my life? The possibility that I may not see my children (who aren't even legally mine yet) grow up and have children of their own.

I am blessed that the Lord has not stripped me of my vision.  I know that it's only a miracle on HIS account that I continue to see.  Now I hope He can work a miracle in my heart and in my mind to help me figure out what I need to be doing with this. I cannot afford to be blind-sighted any longer.

"May the Lord answer you when you are in distress;may the name of the God of Jacob protect you." Psalm 20:1
