My hubby and I really don't get out much... at least not just the two of us. As a family we go many places all the time. Last night, we made it out for a date night. It had been on the calendar for like a month. No idea what we were going to plan when we put it on the calendar... just knew it was time to go out.
So last night we got to go to The Melting Pot. It's a fun restaurant that serves fondue. The food was pretty good and the martini's were outstanding! We had a four course meal -- cheese fondue appetizers, salad, main course (with steak, chicken and seafood) and then dessert. We were making jokes about how this restaurant could be a "deal breaker" for relationships because you have to agree on the food. However, for our relationship, my hubby is clearly the cheese guy and I'm the chocolate gal. So no disagreements could be made.
As we enjoyed our dinner, we did talk a little about our kiddos. Mostly we were just having fun and making jokes. We were laughing at each other every time something got lost in the fondue pot. My husband also poked some fun at me when I used my "timer" app to help us know how long the meat and seafood was in the fondue. (I mean, how else are you going to know when 1 min 30 seconds or 2 minutes is up?)
Afterwords, we were stuffed. We had planned to go to the movies but were so full that we decided to watch American Pie 2 in bed. We laughed lots. It was a fun evening.
Just a few days ago, the social worker from the GAL's office asked about our marriage. I think what keeps us going is our ability to laugh at each other and at life. My hubby balances me out and I balance him out. We are very opposite in many ways and the same in many ways. It's just the laughter and the fun we have together that always reminds me why I love him so much.
