Christmas is a time of wants. A time of giving. A time of hope. A time of surprises. It's a time like no other during the calendar year.
My kiddos are not running short of "suggestions" for their Christmas wish lists (aka wants). The boy wants WWE Wrestling guys. (And it seems to be because his friend has them and now he thinks they are cool). Of course he wants DS games and Wii games. What boy wouldn't? Princess wants a hoard of puppies and kittens to sleep on her bed. Stuffed or real, doesn't matter. The furrier the better. She also wants a tablet so she can play angry birds. Peaches wants a cell phone, a lap top, and pretty much any other electronic gadget. They also want an electric scooter or car.
That's the thing about Christmas and children. It's the time of the year that they dare to dream big and wish big. If they don't think the parents will do it... Santa will... won't he? That hope and excitement is so precious. Then on Christmas day, when the presents are revealed and some of those dreams come true! Wow! Amazing.
I have my own "hippo" that I want this year for Christmas. I would love this year to be our last year as the three last name family. I would love to be just a family. It seems sometimes as elusive as getting a hippo for Christmas.
What is your "hippo" wish this Christmas?
I want you to get your hippo and I wish for a certain other family to mend fences and find peace. Two huge hippos. :)
