It seems that a whole lot of something has been happening in the last 5 to 6 months. Back in January, I wrote a blog about the "Promised Land". At that time, we had just received word that our TPR was filed with the DA's office. It felt like we are getting to be at the top of some big hill.
It has not been a straight downhill shot from there. But why would it? This is foster care! We have had a few surprises. We have had a few delays. We had yet another change of caseworkers (so now we are on # 4 -- who is so new that I think she is still glowing!)
Now we do have an adoption worker. We have taken the necessary adoption classes. (Did I mention that we were nearly the only ones adopting school aged children in the group?) We are nearly done with our home study. Essentially it's down to another background check or two. Then everything on that end should be completed.
Next week... is a big. Big. BIG. week for us. By the end of the week, the judge could have made a decision that effects our family and kiddos forever. Then if we get that far, we still wait on the appeal process.
Although I can rarely seem to even hope for it... the promise land may be getting even closer...
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to
prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. ~Jeremiah 29:11
