My wonderful husband has been studying very hard for his Fundamentals of Engineering exam this coming Saturday. I don't envy him in anyway as it's too much calculus for me. (I love math -- just not that kind of math!) While I was suppose to have surgery today (but it has been rescheduled due to pink eye in the house), he still needed quiet time to study. The kiddos who were already excited to be having a sleep over at their "second family's home" continued on with their plans to sleep over anyway. So, somehow, the planets aligned... and I was able to go enjoy a movie (aka Study Break) with my man.
We went to go see American Reunion. At first, my hubby had thought it would be such a good movie because some critics don't like it. Here is the thing, if you like the American Pie movies, you'll enjoy this movie too. It's an American Pie movie. If you didn't like the other ones, you won't enjoy this one.
The movie got me thinking about things. For one, The original movie came out two years after I graduated from high school. In some ways, watching the movie today reminded me of how my high school friends and I have now grown up. It's been 15 years now since we graduated. Are any of us in places that we expected to find ourselves? Growing up, we were told that our friendships would drift apart. That has been partly true, but social media has made a way for us all to "check up" on each other.
I maybe a little outside of the box on this one, but I actually miss high school. For me, it held lots of good memories. I miss the football games and hanging out with my band friends. I remember the dances. I remember the sleepovers and the mischief we had.
But I'm not sure I would want to attend a reunion. Have you attended a reunion? What was it like? Did you regret going or happy you made the choice?
